Your offerings to God that you have entrusted to EVC are an integral part of facilitating all that goes on through EVC. These activities aren’t just to give us something to do - they are putting our mission statement into action: Extending God’s Kingdom, loVing God continually, Connecting with others, along with equipping the saints and ministering to the broken.
2019 has been a year of significant internal and external growth for our EVC church family and the ministries God has given us.
Internally, your offerings were part of
our Sunday worship services and ministry activities for children, students, people with special needs, young adults, men and women, life groups, safety team, Café and food service,
our outreach service groups like our HOPE Ministries, Unhindered, Women of Wisdom (WOW), Stephen Ministry, Faith Works, Meals on Wheels, mission teams and many more.
Our HOPE Ministry has grown dynamically and now has 34 trained support group leaders hosting 16 life-sustaining support groups and one educational class for people living with mental unwellness and those walking through the loss or suicide of a loved one, divorce, unplanned pregnancy, chronic illness, or sexual integrity challenges and woundedness.
We now have a Bible study to study God’s Word in Spanish on Sunday afternoons led by our Elder Jorge Tapiero – pass the word around that this is available!
Our staff is in the process of developing and implementing a leadership development pathway program to increase and strongly equip lay leaders in our 30 ministry teams.
Our Fall Festival and Fun Family Christmas utilized the giftings, time and energy of well over a hundred volunteers planning and working together with enthusiasm to welcome and share the love of Christ with our community in these dynamic events.
77 new members and their children officially joined our EVC family in 2019.
50 – 80 people are now attending EVC services online through our new streaming service on Sunday mornings. (If you’re sick or out of town, you can still worship with us on Sundays!)
Externally, your offerings have been a part of extending God’s kingdom far beyond EVC walls. Some of your offerings were used in our partnership with church plants and ministries reaching people with the gospel and love of Christ in many areas. As you read below, know that your prayers and offerings are a vital part of the “we sent out…” statements. In addition to financial support, we sent mission trip teams to Quebec and Honduras, and supported our partners with prayer, mentoring and encouragement.
In Quebec, Canada, we sent out $69,425 for
additional renovation of the Parole de Vie (PdV) French residential language school for missionaries. PdV staff and students use their French language skills and their passion to reach out to people in the Sherbrooke area - 20 young people received Christ at one recent event!
our own Ryan Chessher as a summer missionary in training and intern at PdV.
the operations and activities of King’s Church – a church plant for Spanish speaking residents in French speaking Quebec. This church is growing and vibant – baptizing new believers.
Equipment, activities and outreach work with Eglise du Mont-Bellevue Church in Sherbrooke.
In Honduras, we sent out and used $91, 500 to
build a kindergarten building that is used on Sundays for the Regedero church plant that was begun last year. Pastor Bart and Jorge began an ongoing discipleship process with them and we undergird Pastor Erling with prayer and financial support.
Supplied playground equipment in Regedero and at the school we built in LaPradera.
begin construction of a medical clinic in the village of Achote - we will be working on it during our June, 2020 mission trips.
Most importantly, we are seeing people accept Christ, be baptized, and grow in him throughout the region of Saba. Pray for a church planter for the village of Achote.
Other global outreaches – we sent out over
$8,200 and 1110 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children around the world. Thousands of people are saved each year through the shoebox distribution and discipleship programs led by local Christians pastors that are helped by Samaritan’s Purse.
$7,600 in supporting our own Brynn Childers in her second year of work in a Christian Mission School in Okinawa.
$7,100 through Baptist Mission organizations to develop churches and equip church planters, send missionaries to TX college campuses, train church and mission leaders, provide counseling programs and disaster relief.
$5,700 through Mercy Chefs to feed hot meals and the love of God to people in Haiti, Texas coast and Alabama as they coped with devastation from natural disasters in 2019.
$3,000 for missionaries to the lost and brave church leaders in Middle East, Russia and Ukraine.
Local church plants and ministries – we sent out
$54,400, prayer and mentoring for the local church plants and ministries we are partnering with. We also sent out over 60 of our EVC families to be part of the core planting team for these churches. These worship leaders, group and ministry leaders, children/youth leaders, and mature believers from EVC welcome and disciple new believers and are a vital part of establishing a firm foundation of faith in these young churches.

Building Fund. Designated gifts for our Building Fund totaled $287,122 in calendar 2019, making a total of $330,303 given to the Invest in the Person Building Fund since October, 2018. In addition to these gifts, our Directors designated $171,328 to the building fund from general offerings that are over our basic budget. We are in the design process for the next phase of expansion to reach and serve the families of our community. We will continue to follow God’s lead on expanding our ministries and our building in the coming years.
Thank you for your gifts and your service that are part of the Kingdom work we are doing at EVC. Many people at EVC are living out I Peter 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” As the EVC pastors and staff continue to seek God’s plan for EVC, we encourage you to also seek God’s direction as to how you will continue be a part of what He is doing in us and through us in 2020.
May God’s grace, peace and abundant provision be poured out on you in the coming year.
